went to recce the AR places with Grace , Chew Yan and Nasir yesterday nitez .
if there is one bright spark that comes out at the end of this LTB module ,it's that both grace the lame creative one and cy the cute creative one (both self-procliamed titles, ahem) have become realli solid friends, machiam like sisters like tt liaoz.
I'm telling you, when i was with the both of them, it amaze me how they can chat non-stop through out... ooops
Even in the skit rehearsal, u can c the gd chemistry between the both of them as they act out thier roles.
hai
Our skit still need alot of touch up.
HOpefully, we can settle everything by tomolo
Our group is going through pretty much of up n down.First Nasir was away for 2 weeks for IMF.
NOw,the sad thing is that Jessy is gg to withdraw from sch soon.We still don't know what happen to her.
Project-wise, it is a huge blow to us as Jessy was a solid member of the group. With her absence, we have to work extra hard
Still, hope she will get in touch with us soon
Even though she's gone, she will always be part of TIMELINE INc in everyone's hearts..

where is the time?

i know this is awfully off topic but...
in reply to what nasir has mentioned..
think about it this way.

would you be actively seeking for comn service to do if the compulsory 80hours of comn service wasnt factored in? or would you be more caught up with the whirlpool of flurry activities that has been happening in school, trying to adapt to school life as a freshman?

im sure everyone sincerely wants to do comn service. you get your friends along, they are like "oh im fine with it". but when it gets down to seeking for it actively on their own parts, would they actually get down to it? would you?

put it simply, im rather cynical at the illusion of young adults nowadays wanting to do comn serve. most of them are all talk no action. most of them say say only la. if you dont make it compulsory for the tertiary students, you can hear them come up with reasons like "oh i've got a date, cant make it." "oh my cca comes more important." different people have different priority, and comn serve (as much as they would like to do it) is wayy down there. and ultimately it boils down to not having the time for it. so when are they going to give back to society? never?

i once had a friend who wanted to join medical school, the reason being: she foresees herself NOT HAVING THE TIME in future to give back to society, hence she wants to give it back during her career - one which enables her to earn and give back at the same time.
just think about it. what does it say?

im sorry for being so skeptical, but that is what i generally see across most tertiary students, especially smu students.

noob blogger (nasir)

Hello....this is officially the first time i'm blogging...

Anyway this blog is meant for the leadership and teambuilding module for the SMU freshies, specifically for the group TIMELINE.. Hopefully this blog will expand to include the progress of the group as well as personal feedbacks from the members and comments from others...

Its 12.50am and i don't think i want to continue writing, but something struck me just now during a talk I attended dat might be worth mentioning..

I attended a talk for volunteers just now at the NVPC ( its the same talk the freshies had during matriculation which I did not attend and so I had to go for this one) about doing community service. The talk was fine and the speakers were passionate and motivated, but towards the end the facilitator said something which irked me. He said something like "I'm glad to see so many young faces, students interested in community service. I know SMU students need to fulfill 80hrs, you guys can go collect ur acknowledgement slips outside at reception..". Sigh it was painful to hear the audience snigger and laugh abt the compulsory 80hrs part, but the truth is that making it compulsory just reduces the sincerity of it.

I felt slightly hurt mainly because I realized that SMU has a very strong community service culture and that many many students here are willing to do community service sincerely without giving a damn abt the hours. Its just sad that the compulsory hours thingy gives a bad perception about us.

My point is that I'm glad to know that my LTB group members seem to exude sincerity and passion for this LTB project, and not doing it for the A+ only( although dats wat we expect from Prof ). Maybe I haven't really seen their true selves yet, but from what I've seen and heard during discussions they're all really enthusiastic and keen on making a difference. People say that LTB is the heaviest module this term because of the CSP, but I think the reason that its a heavy module is that students make it heavy- simply because we're committed and sincere about making it happen successfully. And i see this in other groups too. Heard that Gilles' group ( the grp with the most international students) were talking abt doing community service overseas- Pakistan, China, France even....

Hopefully this enthusiasm and commitment lasts all the way.... well enuff for an early morning write up...
